Smart Socket Air

How to setup your Smart Socket Air.

  • Suitable for a voltage of 85 – 265VAC
  • Max. switching capacity: 16A
  • Integrated measurement of energy (kWh), power (kW) and temperature (-20 to 50°C)
  • Frequency: 868MHz
  • Power consumption: <500mW
  • Protection: IP20
  • Safety shutdown: If the CPU temperature increases over 92°C, all the relay is turned off. Once the
  • temperature drops below 77°C, the relay is turned on. The CPU temperature is updated on startup and if there is a temperature change of more than 5°C.

Every 5 minutes information about the energy and power is sent to the Miniserver.
If a 5% change in the data occurs this update is sent immediately to the Miniserver.

Every 5 minutes the temperature is sent to the Miniserver.

Smart Socket Quick Connection Guide (pdf)

Plug in your Smart Socket and then press and hold the learn button for 5 seconds on the Smart Socket – see the picture below. Once the device is in the learning mode, the Status LED will flash alternately red-green-yellow.

Smart Socket

In order to learn in the Smart Socket you need to activate the Air Monitor. Click on the Air Base extension in the periphery window and then in the context bar at the top check the tick box ‘Monitor’.

Monitor AIR

Next, in the monitor below click on the Learn tab and then click the “Start search” button. Now you will see all the Air devices that are in the learning mode below.

Learn - start search

Now click on the correct Smart Socket signal and enter a name for this Smart Socket and then click ‘Create device’. The Smart Socket can now be seen in the periphery tree underneath the Air Base Extension.

If a device has been replaced, you need to update the serial number. You can easily do that in the Air Monitor in Loxone Config.

  • mount the new device and activate the power supply or insert the battery
  • search for air devices in learn-mode (as shown in the “getting started” section)
  • highlight the new device and choose the device you would like to replace in the drop-down menu

Finally press “Replace Device” and save your program in the Miniserver. The device has now been replaced.

Replace AIR

The Air devices will run their update automatically in the background, and they will function throughout the update.

If the Air devices are updating when the Miniserver and the Air Base Extension are rebooted then the Air devices will restart the update from the beginning after the reboot.

The update can take up to an hour so do be aware of this! You can check the version of the devices by looking in Device status. Click on the Miniserver tab and then click the Device status button once.

Air Base Device - Status

All Air devices that have a permanent power supply (not battery powered) can also be used as a router. This means that signals from devices with a poor connection to the Air Base Extension are amplified and therefore a greater range can be achieved.

Communication via routers to the Air Base Extension is slower than communication direct from an Air device to the Air Base. If an Air device is more than 2 routers away from the Air Base then we recommend an additional Air Base near the device with the poor signal. This is because the maximum number of hops (number of routers away from the extension). You can see the number of hops for a device in the Air monitor.

For the Air device to operate as a router you must tick the checkbox in the properties of the device. By default this is enabled on permanent power supply devices.

Multi Extension Air properties

Flashing orangeIs not yet paired with the Air Base or no connection is possible
Flashes green for 3 secsAfter being restarted a connection to the Air Base was successful
No LEDDevice operational
Flashing red-green-yellowDevice is in learn mode

The LED may also be manually controlled in Loxone Config. In the peripheral tree you will find the output “Smart Socket Air LED”. The 3 different colours can be set:

0 = Off
1 = Green
2 = Orange
3 = Red

You can connect the energy and power inputs of the Smart Socket Air to the Ultility meter function block to display things like Today’s usage, This Month’s usage etc. You can also simply tick ‘Use’ on the inputs in the properties to show the current energy and power readings.

Air Socket Energy Measurement

If you have lots of Air devices in the Monitor and wish to clear it before you start monitoring you can empty the results. To do this right click in the Monitor window and click Clear.
