LOXONE WallboxÂ
Smart EV Charging
At home, in your business
or in residential buildings.
These Functions Make Your E-Mobility Smart
Keeps an Eye on Costs and Consumption.
In the LOXONE App, you can see your current consumption while charging and view total consumption by day, week, month or year.
Distributes Reliably.
If several Wallboxes charge at the same time, the Wallbox Manager automatically distributes the available power so the fuse isn’t overloaded and doesn’t interrupt charging.
Charges the Way You Want.
Priority
Charges your vehicle with the maximum available power.

Comfort
Battery-friendly charging over a definable period.

Eco
Preferably uses surplus solar energy and low electricity tariffs.
Knows Who’s Charging.
If the Wallbox has an NFC Code Touch, each person can log in when charging – handy when several people share a car or a Wallbox. In a business, this can be used directly for billing.
Bills Automatically.
Charging time, amount of energy and costs are assigned to the respective person after logging in via NFC.
This lets businesses automatically document company car charging for their fleet, landlords bill tenant electricity per household, and every charging session in employee car parks can be assigned to the right person. Learn more about automatic billing.
Stays Flexible.
Especially practical for businesses that want to open their Wallbox to guests: via the open standard OCPP (version 1.6 or 2.0.1), users can log in at the NFC Code Touch with their own charging card.
Even More Functions with LOXONE Energy Management
The LOXONE Wallbox is smart on its own. Combined with your energy management, it becomes even more efficient.

Charges at the Best Price
With dynamic electricity tariffs, your car charges automatically when electricity is cheapest.

Uses PV Surplus

Adapts to You
You decide whether the battery, the car or the hot water comes first – LOXONE takes care of the rest.
Protects Your Grid Connection
Several large consumers at the same time can push the grid connection to its limits. The LOXONE Load Manager detects this automatically and switches off individual consumers if necessary before an overload occurs.
Avoids Peak Loads
Depending on their size, businesses pay not only an energy charge (per kilowatt hour consumed, kWh) but also a hefty demand charge (per kW). If you cause an extremely high peak in even a single quarter-hour of the year (e.g. by starting machines, air conditioners or charging infrastructure at the same time), this maximum value is used to calculate the demand charge.
Depending on the country, this can also become relevant for private households – in Austria, for example. There, the demand charge could apply to every household connection from 2027 – especially critical when the heat pump is running and an electric car is fast-charging at the same time.
E-Mobility Funding
In Austria, your Wallbox can earn you up to €600 (private) or up to €20,000 (business) in funding – if it is connected to photovoltaics, a battery or a heat pump. Learn more about funding.

FAQs
What does a Wallbox do?
A Wallbox is the convenient way to charge your electric car – at home or at work. It charges faster and more safely than a conventional socket.
Do I need a Wallbox at home?
If you regularly charge your electric car at home, a Wallbox makes everyday life much easier. You charge safely, faster and exactly when it suits you best.
With LOXONE energy management, it charges automatically with surplus solar power or at the cheapest electricity tariff – without you having to intervene.
Can I charge several electric cars?
Yes. The LOXONE Wallbox Manager automatically distributes the available power across all connected Wallboxes without overloading the fuse. Ideal for private households with several vehicles as well as for fleets or tenant electricity models with multiple charging points. Even if only one Wallbox is installed, different drivers can be identified via code or NFC authentication and billed separately (this requires the NFC Code Touch in addition to the LOXONE Wallbox).
How does automatic billing of charging sessions work?
For a single Wallbox, the Miniserver is enough – charging sessions are logged automatically and sent, for example monthly, as a CSV file by email. For several Wallboxes or sites, LOXONE Exosphere handles central recording and evaluation – including timestamps, amount of energy and user ID.
Can I charge solar power directly into my electric car?
Yes, with LOXONE energy management your car can charge automatically with surplus solar power. The charging power adapts to the available energy. This way you use as much of your self-generated power as possible, without any manual intervention.
Can LOXONE prevent the grid connection from being overloaded?
Yes, the Load Manager records the building’s entire energy demand and, if necessary, switches off individual consumers by priority before the grid connection is overloaded – provided these consumers can be switched on and off via the Miniserver, for example via a relay or a smart actuator on the cooker or heating. This usually requires an existing LOXONE installation that goes beyond the Wallbox.
The Wallbox Manager already offers a simpler form of this protection: if several Wallboxes are in use, it distributes the available power across all of them so that their shared fuse doesn’t trip from overload and interrupt charging – this is particularly relevant in commercial and residential buildings, where multiple Wallboxes are more common.
Is a Wallbox worth it with a dynamic electricity tariff?
Yes. With LOXONE energy management, your electric car charges automatically when electricity is particularly cheap. In the practical example of a Cupra Born (77 kWh battery, 25 kWh charging demand per day), the same 25 kWh cost €6.90 at the most expensive tariff, but only €1.15 at the cheapest – a saving of around 80%.
