What is the Miniserver – and what do I need it for?

What is the difference between the Miniserver, Miniserver Compact and Miniserver Go?
The difference lies in the features:
- Miniserver: the “classic” model – flexible for many projects, built on a foundation of proven basic interfaces.
- Miniserver Compact: if you need a more compact, space-saving solution for your control cabinet – with more integrated interfaces built directly into the device, including audio and LOXONE Air.
- Miniserver Go: if you want to get started with wireless technology quickly and easily – Air is already integrated, and you can connect many devices without additional cabling.
All three variants are compatible with each other – whether you start with Miniserver, Miniserver Compact, or Miniserver Go. You’re always building on the same system.
Is installing a Miniserver complicated?
We want to make things easy for you as a user: scenes, automations and controls are designed so you don’t have to manage settings on a daily basis. A LOXONE Partner handles the planning and setup – so everything runs smoothly from the start.
Is my data stored in the cloud?
No. With LOXONE, your data stays where it belongs – on your Miniserver. All information is processed locally and is not stored in the cloud or synced with external servers. This way, you retain full control over your system and your data at all times.
Is secure remote access possible?
Yes. With the Remote Connect Service, you can securely access your building management system anytime, anywhere. The connection is established without using the cloud or third-party tools and is protected by true end-to-end encryption.
How reliable is the Miniserver in continuous operation?
The Miniserver is designed for reliable 24/7 operation over many years. It has no moving parts, such as fans, operates with exceptional energy efficiency and requires virtually no maintenance. Hundreds of thousands of Miniserver units have been in reliable use worldwide for more than ten years – and are fully compatible with all extensions and current software versions.
