LOXONE Wallbox
Smart Solution for Charging Electric Cars

At home, at work, or in residential buildings.

These Features Make Your E-Mobility Smart

Keeps Track of Costs and Energy Consumotion.

In the LOXONE App, you can see your current energy consumption while charging and view your total consumption by day, week, month, or year.

Distributes Reliably.

If multiple Wallboxes are charging at the same time, the Wallbox Manager automatically distributes the available power to prevent the circuit breaker from tripping and interrupting the charging process.

Charge It However You Want.

You can set up to 5 custom charging modes; typical examples include:

Priority

Charges your vehicle at the maximum available power.

Comfort

Battery-friendly charging over a customizable period of time.

Eco

Preferentially uses excess solar energy and low-cost electricity rates.

Know Who Is Charging.

If the Wallbox has an NFC code feature, anyone can log in while charging – which is handy when multiple people share a car or a wallbox. In a business setting, this can be used directly for billing.

Bills Automatically.

Charging time, energy consumption and costs are assigned to the respective person after they check in via NFC.

This allows companies to automatically track company car charging for their fleets, rental companies to bill tenants for electricity usage on a per-tenant basis, and employee parking lots to assign each charge to the correct person. Learn more about automatic billing.

Stays Flexible.

This is especially convenient for businesses that want to make their Wallbox available to guests: Using the open OCPP standard (version 1.6 or 2.0.1), users can log in to NFC Code Touch with their own charging card.

Even More Features with  LOXONE Energy Management

The LOXONE Wallbox is smart on its own. When used in conjunction with your energy management system, it becomes even more efficient.

Protects Your Power Connection

Running multiple high-power devices at the same time can push your power connection to its limits. The LOXONE Load Manager automatically detects this and, if necessary, shuts off individual devices before an overload occurs.

Avoid Peak Loads

Depending on the size of the business, companies pay not only the energy rate (per kilowatt-hour, kWh) but also a hefty capacity charge (per kW). If you cause even a single extremely high peak – even for just a quarter of an hour – at any point during the year (e.g., by starting machines, air conditioners, or charging infrastructure all at once), this peak value will be used to calculate the capacity charge.

Depending on the country, this could also affect private households. Take Austria, for example. There, the power rate could apply to every household connection as early as 2027 – which would be particularly problematic when a heat pump is running and an electric car is charging at the same time.

Electric Vehicle Incentives

In Austria, your Wallbox qualifies you for up to €600 (for private individuals) or up to €20,000 (for businesses) in incentives – if it’s connected to a solar power system, energy storage, or a heat pump.

FAQs

What does a wallbox do?

A wallbox is the convenient way to charge your electric car – at home or at work. It charges faster and more safely than a standard outlet.

Do I need a wallbox at home?

If you charge your electric car at home regularly, a wallbox makes everyday life much easier. You can charge safely, faster, and exactly when it’s most convenient for you.

With LOXONE Energy Management, it charges automatically using excess solar power or during off-peak hours – without you having to do a thing.

Can I charge multiple electric cars?

Yes. The LOXONE Wallbox Manager automatically distributes the available power among all connected wallboxes without overloading the circuit breaker. This is ideal for private households with multiple vehicles, as well as for fleets or tenant electricity models with multiple charging points. But even if only one Wallbox is installed, different drivers can be identified via code or NFC authentication and billed separately (in addition to the LOXONE Wallbox, the NFC Code Touch is required for this).

How does automatic billing for charging sessions work?

For a single wallbox, the Miniserver is sufficient—charging sessions are automatically logged and, for example, sent monthly via email as a CSV file. For multiple wallboxes or locations, LOXONE Exosphere handles centralized data collection and analysis—including timestamps, energy consumption, and user IDs.

Can I charge my electric car directly with solar power?

Yes, with LOXONE Energy Management, your car can automatically charge using excess solar power. The charging power adjusts to the available energy. This way, you can use as much of the electricity you generate yourself as possible, without any manual intervention.

Can LOXONE prevent the power connection from becoming overloaded?

Yes, the load manager monitors the building’s total energy demand and, if necessary, shuts off individual loads in order of priority before the utility connection becomes overloaded – provided these loads can be turned on and off via the Miniserver, for example, through a relay or a smart actuator for the stove or heating system. This typically requires an existing LOXONE installation that goes beyond the wallbox.

The wallbox manager already offers a simpler form of this protection: If multiple Wallboxes are in use, it distributes the available power among them so that their shared circuit breaker does not trip due to overload and interrupt the charging process – this is particularly relevant in commercial and residential buildings, where multiple Wallboxes are more common.

Is a wallbox worth it with a dynamic electricity rate?

Yes. With LOXONE Energy Management, your electric car charges automatically when electricity is particularly cheap. In a real-world example involving a Cupra Born (77-kWh battery, 25 kWh daily charging requirement), those same 25 kWh cost €6.90 on the most expensive rate plan, but only €1.15 on the cheapest—a savings of about 80%.
