Now serving up a unique multi-room experience in Washington, D.C., the Victory Restaurant & Lounge elevates its fine dining menu with its surrounding environment. Loxone Partner Logix Design Build created an all-around automation solution with efficiency and security in mind – for the guests and the staff. Taking advantage of full flexibility, it was easy to design freely and plan for future expansion from the start. Read how in our Q&A with Jameel Gibbs from Logix Design Build:

What role did the Miniserver play?

Jameel: It’s the brains! The restaurant is now smart enough to go into Dining Mode prior to dinner service – lights will adjust to the right color and dimming, TVs and audio turn on all at once. Or even Cleaning Mode at the end of the night – lighting switches on its own to bright white and the TVs and audio will turn off.

In the background, the HVAC system will operate according to its predefined schedule. Overall, the Miniserver takes a lot off the plates of the staff’s everyday tasks to keep the restaurant running efficiently.

Were there any solutions that exceeded expectations?

Jameel: The “Link” aspect of the Miniserver to Extension communication was exactly what we needed to easily build three separate panels in the building by running one communication wire, rather than wiring a building this size from a dedicated panel. This gave us the ability to design freely and plan for future additions in the space.

What features were implemented that would not be possible by other systems?

Jameel: One particular feature that stands out is the integration of a fire alarm system. By using a dry contact and an input on an Extension, we were able to create a PA and HVAC shutdown.

In the event of a fire, the music will stop automatically while the alarm will sound with instructions. Both HVAC units will stop operating until the alarm is cleared.

This is vital in building safety and the Miniserver made it much simpler to handle a potentially dangerous and costly situation, should it ever arise.

How does the business owner benefit from the technology?

Jameel: My client was blown away by the possibilities of the system – so much that we’re having it installed in his company’s headquarters. This project has leveraged us to our next opportunity breaking ground on another restaurant with the Miniserver at the core of its functionality.

The best part for me is never having to wonder about what’s going on in the operation of the building. It’s a level of security that comes with having a direct connection to the investment.
