Use only Loxone SD cards for the Miniserver. (These can be found in our webshop).
Do not use other 3rd party SD cards. These SD cards may work at first glance or be of similar specification but differences in hardware and features will cause problems with the Miniserver!
If further extensions are connected to the Miniserver Go, then the GND must be connected in addition to the Loxone Link!
- Position or wall mount the Miniserver Go
- Connect the network cable from the router to the LAN port
- Connect the Loxone Link to the first extension*
- Terminate the Loxone Link at the last extension with 120Ω resistor*
- Connect the GND of the extensions to the Miniserver Go GND*
- Check that the micro SD card is inserted
- Plug in the 5V power supply after the installation is complete
* These steps only apply if you are connecting wired to other extensions and are not using Air.
The GND of the Miniserver Go and any extensions must be connected to avoid potential differences!

CONNECT TO THE MINISERVER: ROUTER
When connecting for the first time, connect the network adaptor to the network then connect the power supply. The Miniserver will then boot from the inserted MicroSD card which stores all the firmware and user data. The Miniserver will now get an IP address automatically from the router (DHCP server). It is important that your Miniserver is connected to the same network as your computer so you can use the Miniserver Search in Loxone Config.
MINISERVER SEARCH IN LOXONE CONFIG
Open Loxone Config and in the tab Miniserver you can find the Search button. Click on this and the whole network is searched to find the Miniserver.
The Miniserver will be listed in the Search results window with the name, IP address, serial number and firmware version.
Highlight the Miniserver in the Search results and enter the username and password (the default is ‘admin’ for both). Finally click on Connect.
If you run your Miniserver the first time you can also do the Initial Setup. There you can set major setting just like Network Config and project address.
Afterwards you can see in the status bar that you are connected.
CONNECTING NOT POSSIBLE?
Network connections are often blocked by firewalls or anti-virus programs. If you have connection problems check that Loxone Config has been allowed through the firewall and the anti-virus program. If you are still have difficulties try disabling the anti-virus program completely.
CONNECT TO THE MINISERVER: DIRECT
If there is no router available at the installation or you want to quickly program the Miniserver in an installation that is not using the apps then you can connect directly to the Miniserver with your PC or laptop. The network card needs to support crossover, or you need to use a crossover cable or switch.
Setting a manual IP address
If there’s no DHCP server or router to assign an IP address to the Miniserver, you must set one manually. By default, this should be in the range 192.168.1.x.
STEP 1: ADAPTERS
Open Windows Control Panel and go to the Network and Sharing Centre. Click back one level to the Network and Internet. On the left you will see the Adapter settings option, click on this to see the adapters of your computer.
STEP 2: ADAPTER PROPERTIES
Right click on the Ethernet adapter (the one connected to the Miniserver) to go the Properties of the adapter.
STEP 3: IPV4
Scroll down in the Networking tab to the entry ‘Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and then click on the Properties button to edit the IPv4 properties of the adapter.
STEP 4: IPV4 PROPERTIES
Here you can assign your computer a static IP address. Click on the option ‘Use the following IP address:’ and then fill in an IP address and subnet. The IP address for your laptop should be one that the Miniserver wouldn’t be using. By default with no router the Miniserver IP address is 192.168.1.77 so set your laptop IP address to a different address, for example 192.168.1.1 (mimicking a router).
Hit enter after entering the IP address and the subnet will automatically be filled in as 255.255.255.0. This is fine, you can now click OK and then exit the Control Panel network adapter windows.
CHANGING THE IP ADDRESS OF YOUR MINISERVER
If you want to set another IP address for your Miniserver, you can do this in our configuration software. In Loxone Config, click “Configure Miniserver” under the Miniserver tab (select Miniserver in Periphery).
Assigning a new IP address using the ‘Configure Miniserver’ option in Loxone Config will work even if the Miniserver is in a different subnet or you cannot connect to the Miniserver via Loxone Config.
LOXONE CONFIG CONFIGURE MINISERVER
First, enter the MAC address (serial number) of your Miniserver. To manually set an IP address, remove the tick by “Set address automatically”. Enter the desired IP address, subnet, default gateway, DNS servers and click Send. Your Miniserver is now assigned to the new IP address.
The Miniserver will reboot as soon as the ‘Configure Miniserver’ window ‘Send’ option has been clicked. A successful transfer of the command will cause the status LEDs on the Miniserver to go orange briefly. If this doesn’t happen the Miniserver hasn’t rebooted and the command hasn’t been sent. This could happen by a virus scanner or firewall blocking the command or the connection from the laptop to the Miniserver (with router or not) being poor.
The information already in the ‘Configure Miniserver’ window are only defaults and need to be set according to your network settings.

FINDING YOUR COMPUTERS LOCAL IP ADDRESS
To run the command prompt in Windows:
– In Windows 7 click on Start, then Run and type “cmd”.
– In Windows 7 in Start screen just start typing “cmd”, right click and run as administrator.
Now type “ipconfig” into the command prompt and hit enter.
This command will return a list of all the network connections on your computer. If you are connected via WiFi to your network look for “Wireless LAN adapter Wi-Fi”, or if you are connected to your network with an Ethernet cable then look for “Ethernet adapter Ethernet”.
Your IP address is listed next to IPv4 Address. In this case the IP address is 10.44.44.21
CONFIRMING THE MINISERVER IS REACHABLE OVER THE NETWORK
If you can see the Miniserver listed in the search of Loxone Config but cannot connect to it, confirm that it is available at the IP address it has. To do this open the command prompt as before and type “ping <MiniserverIP>”. For example “ping 10.44.44.100”.
This command pings the destination IP (Miniserver in this case) to see whether the IP address is reachable and will return a reply to say whether the Miniserver responded or not. The ping command sends 4 echo requests by default. In the example below all 4 pings were received so the IP address is reachable.
