In this blog, we introduce Dilip Varsani of DV Smarthomes, to celebrate them reaching Loxone Gold Partner status! Read our interview with Dilip to learn more about how Loxone has helped him grow his smart home business, as well as what his dedicated journey to Gold has involved.
Hi Dilip, can you start by telling us about your background and how you became interested in home automation?
Ever since I was young, I’ve always been passionate about IT and technology in general. I originally became interested in the concept of home automation in 2010, when I started looking at a system to install in my new home. Since completing my own project, I decided to venture into the smart home business and offer smart home technology to like-minded homeowners.
What made you decide to become a Loxone Partner?
As customers approached me wanting to find an all-round smart home solution, I started to look at various systems and decided that Loxone was the best option. I then booked onto Loxone Expert Training, and the rest is history…

My expertise, ideas and knowledge all contribute to delivering excellent, successful projects, as well as working closely with other industry partners to continuously develop these.
What has your dedicated journey to Gold involved?
From the very first project that DV Smarthomes completed, I have seen more and more homeowners show interest in how easy Loxone is to use; when they visit the Loxone Show Facility in Reading or our previous projects, they quickly choose Loxone as their preferred smart home solution.
How would you encourage other Loxone Partners to reach for Gold?
Keep your projects simple and user-friendly, the easier the system is to use, the happier your customers will be.
What has been your biggest/favourite Loxone project? What challenges have you faced?
My favourite Loxone project that DV Smarthomes has completed is nearing completion: it features smart lighting, heating and cooling, fully automated blinds, skylights, multiroom audio, electric car charging, and it’s soon to have Solar PV! It really is a ‘Real’ smart home.
What would be your ultimate smart home project?
All of our projects are ‘ultimate’ – large or small, we take pride in each and every project that we complete because to the homeowner, it is their ultimate project, which also makes it ours.
What are the go-to features customers ask for when it comes to home automation?
Alongside the basics of automated lighting, heating and security, a lot of our new customers typically put app control at the top of their feature list; however we believe that ‘real’ smart homes just know what to do when you’re not home, or if a room is unoccupied, or to alert you if something is wrong.
How have your customers benefited from living in a Loxone Smart Home?
Many of our customers say that Loxone is really easy for them to use – especially the heating, which they say once it’s programmed, Loxone takes complete care of it all.
In your opinion, where will the smart home industry be, in the UK, in 2020?
As the smart home industry grows, more and more homeowners are starting to realise the potential of smart home technology. By 2020, I believe that the growth of smart homes will influence the purchase of new homes, as well as wider use of sensors that detect more than just temperature and humidity.
