Challenge

In a remote, isolated location with no access to water or power, yet idyllic. Its developers wanted individualized heating control by zone and comprehensive water and energy management, because all the energy is produced using photovoltaics, and every watt counts. Water is obtained by collecting rainwater from all the roof coverings and by pumping water from a river, also using photovoltaic power at a distance of 1,500 meters and a gradient of 300 meters.

Solution

Loxone enabled a system to control underfloor heating by individual zones using tree valves on the underfloor heating manifolds, and managed biomass and solar thermal generation sources using 1-Wire sensors and the Relay extension. The heating circuits and the pool were controlled using the AO extension for the heating mixers. Pressure control for the heating circuits and water from the rainwater tank was achieved using 0-10V pressure switches from 0-6 bar and the AI analog input extension.

The weather station complemented the shading system using exterior awnings. Being located in the mountains, wind and rain require the system to be automatic to provide shading. As with the home's large windows, this allows for savings in winter by reducing heating costs. However, it is also necessary to activate the shading when the internal temperature reaches the comfort parameters required by the users.
