Smart Luxury in Florida

Challenge

Previous homes built using this same floorplan relied on traditional electrical and security systems; rows of standard light switches, standalone thermostats, and a conventional Honeywell alarm panel mounted prominently near the entry.

The result was functional, but far from intuitive. Homeowners entering the space were immediately met with visual clutter and a fragmented user experience. Everyday interactions such as controlling lighting, managing security, or simply entering through the front door required multiple disconnected systems and repetitive manual actions.

Additionally, prior implementations of electronic door access proved cumbersome and impractical for daily use, causing homeowners to abandon many of the “smart” features entirely and revert to traditional habits.

The home itself was modern. The experience was not.

Solution

This project implemented a fully integrated automation platform designed to simplify interaction with the home while dramatically increasing functionality, comfort, and security.

The system now centrally controls:

Lighting

Whole-home audio

Ceiling fan power and automation

Bathroom ventilation systems

Access control

Security

Fire and carbon monoxide monitoring

Expandable leak detection and water management systems

Additional infrastructure cabling was installed throughout the home to support future expansion and advanced monitoring capabilities, including provisions for:

Whole-home automatic water shutoff

Water leak sensors

Additional presence sensing

Future automation zones and integrations

Several presence sensors were included throughout the home to demonstrate adaptive automation behavior, with the ability to scale into additional rooms and occupancy-based experiences over time.

One of the most impactful transformations occurred at the main entry.

Rather than relying on a traditional smart lock solution, the system utilizes dual industrial-grade magnetic locking systems delivering over 4,200 lbs of combined holding force. Despite the commercial-grade security capability, the homeowner experience remains seamless and nearly invisible.

Upon approach and authentication:

The front door unlocks automatically

The security system disarms

The home greets occupants by name

Lighting and environmental settings can respond dynamically

When exiting:

The system automatically secures the home once the door closes

The result is an entry experience that feels effortless rather than technological.

The Result

This installation fundamentally changed how the builder viewed integrated automation within the home.

Where previous projects prioritized traditional controls and isolated subsystems, this implementation demonstrated how thoughtful automation can:

Reduce wall clutter

Improve daily usability

Increase perceived luxury

Enhance security

Create a more intuitive living experience

After experiencing the finished project firsthand, the builder immediately recognized the difference between simply adding “smart devices” and delivering a truly integrated smart home experience.
