Retrofitting a conventionally built apartment with smart home technology.

In this project, we placed great emphasis on minimizing the need to modify the existing installation.

Thanks to the Air standard, we were able to retain many components of the existing system.

There were several customized solutions, such as the integration of two photovoltaic systems – one on the main roof and a smaller system on the balcony.

Furthermore, the following points were implemented:

• Design of an alarm system with reliable motion detection, even with a robotic vacuum cleaner
• Integration of the existing blinds
• Integration of the existing heating system

The alarm system was implemented to detect whether the robot vacuum cleaner is on its charging station or not. When it is running its cleaning program, the motion detectors are automatically deactivated to trigger the alarm.

Shading was integrated using the Shading Actuator Air.

The Touch Air buttons in each room allow the room temperature to be used for heating control.

Thanks to the interaction between shading and heating, significant energy savings can be achieved.

The two photovoltaic systems were integrated into the energy manager, which uses the Miele@home connection to control washing and drying programs based on available energy.

Various Philips Hue lights were integrated via API control. Color selection is easily managed in the Loxone app.

The existing Sonos speakers can also be controlled via API commands.

Central functions were implemented using the Touch Nightlight Air.

Special requests such as reading data from various devices (e.g., robot vacuum cleaners, NAS, computers) could be implemented using Smart Socket Air.
