Challenge

The Papiliorama is a special zoo with the largest butterfly garden in Switzerland. The preservation of biodiversity and environmental protection are a particular focus of the Papiliorama. For this reason, reducing energy consumption and using renewable energy are crucial.

Solution

Loxone not only offers ideal solutions in the area of smart home, but also enables the implementation of complex projects. By recording the energy consumption in the individual circuits, consumers with above-average energy consumption could be identified. The intelligent control of these consumers by Loxone not only led to a reduction in energy consumption, but also to a reduction in load peaks.

The visitor experience is also optimized by Loxone. Starting with the charging stations where visitors can charge their electric vehicles with solar energy, to the automatic control of ventilation and windows that ensures a pleasant climate, to the intelligent lighting that always ensures the right brightness and atmosphere.

Photovoltaic systems are gradually being installed on the roofs and facades of the neighboring farm. This measure means that 50% of the zoo's and farm's electrical energy needs can be covered by renewable energies.

With the Loxone energy flow monitor, the customer always keeps an overview of the energy flows, while the attractive graphics clearly summarize all relevant key figures.

What impresses me about Loxone is the variety of highly reliable sensors and actuators, which can be used to easily implement even complex projects. In addition, Loxone offers a wide range of interfaces through which all relevant operating devices can be integrated into the system and clearly displayed in a visualization.
