Challenge
The Papiliorama special zoo in Kerzers is planning impressive growth as part of its ambitious 2030+ project. From the expansion oft the restaurant to a rainforest hall with free-roaming animals and a state-of-the-art operations center in the basement - the project combines visionary ideas and ambitious concepts. But these ambitious plans are no easy task. The simultaneous control of light, air, energy and flexible room concepts requires a technical solution that seamlessly links and perfectly coordinates all these elements.
Solution
The heart of the project, the operations center in the basement, became the state-of-the-art control center for electricity, heating and ventilation and replaced the previous energy distribution system. As Papiliorama no longer wanted to rely on manual control but wanted to establish a forward-looking solution, the intelligent Loxone building automation system was integrated. This system acts as a "thinking partner": it optimizes energy flows, regulates lighting and shading and adapts to the needs of flora and fauna as well as those visitors and staff.
Thanks to weather data, Loxone ensures energy-efficient heating and guarantees optimum temperatures at all times. In the flexible seminar rooms, which can be used in different ways thanks to moveable walls, the system automatically adjusts the lighting and shading depending on the current room configuration. The result is an impressive new building that is not only technical impressive, but also perfectly equips the Papiliorama for the challenges of the future.

We are very satisfied with Loxone as an innovative building automation system and the professional advice, planning and installation services provided by Gerber Energietechnik AG, and are looking forward to a greener and more efficient future! The fact that we can now finally monitor, regulate and operate all of our various system interfaces with one system is a revolutionary optimization for us.
