Apartment building "WG10"

The WG10 apartment building was intended to be a future-oriented residential building that combines maximum energy efficiency, comfort, and sustainability. The particular challenge was to combine all energy flows, from the photovoltaic system to the heating control system to consumption billing, into a single, intelligent system.

Various systems, such as the PV system, salt storage system, heat pump, e-mobility, and building control systems, had to work together perfectly. Furthermore, automated and fair energy billing per residential unit was to be implemented without relying on external systems or manual processes.

The solution is based entirely on Loxone as the central building automation platform.



A master Miniserver Gen2 coordinates seven client Miniserver Go in each apartment. This intelligently controls and networks all building technology systems, from heating, shading, and lighting to energy optimization.



The integration of Smart-Me also enabled the development of a virtual washing machine billing unit (WZU), which automatically records and digitally bills the energy consumption of each apartment.



In combination with Loxone's salt storage technology and intelligent storage management, a highly efficient overall system was created that combines maximum self-consumption, automatic grid relief, and the highest level of living comfort.
