Save heating costs in the office

Together with our customer, Lang Holding GmbH in Fürth, we realize new buildings in the area of multi-family houses. We received an inquiry as to whether heating costs could be saved in the company office with the Loxone system. After a cost-benefit analysis by the management, we received the order to retrofit an intelligent individual room control.



One challenge was the construction of the office building. Since the access to the top floor is in the middle of the building, the office and meeting rooms as well as the kitchen are distributed around the stairwell. In order to achieve a sufficiently strong radio signal, a mesh network with the Loxone Air System had to be set up.

Since the actuators and the room climate sensors do not have their own power supply, three Smart Sockets were installed as air amplifiers. With the power measurement function of the Smart Sockets, the consumption of the printers and copiers, the coffee machine and other devices in the technical room are now also recorded.

In addition to the core working hours stored in the system, of course taking weekends, public holidays and vacation periods into account, the Loxone app is installed on selected computers. With the help of the Presence Sensors, the presence of employees can be recorded and the heating times can be extended if overtime is required.



In addition, some users can adjust the room temperatures. These are automatically reset after work so that heating energy is not wasted unnecessarily.



All in all, the installation effort is very clear, but it offers great savings potential, especially in the office. The obligatory employee mail with the note to turn down the heating can be omitted in the future with a clear conscience.
