At the Fortuna Arena, the largest stadium in the Czech Republic, the outdated lighting was to be replaced with a high-quality, energy-efficient solution – suitable for both sporting events and concerts. In addition to light quality, reducing energy consumption was a key objective, as were convenient remote control of the system and a technically sound approach to inrush current when activating a large number of luminaires simultaneously.

LOXONE automated the entire stadium lighting system and replaced the old high-pressure sodium lamps with higher-quality, more energy-efficient LED technology. Despite the increased number of lamps, intelligent automation enabled energy savings of 30 per cent – achieved, amongst other things, through various lighting scenes and illuminance levels, such as reduced lighting during pitch maintenance. The system can also be conveniently controlled at any time and from anywhere via the LOXONE app. A further advantage becomes apparent when switching on the lighting: thanks to staggered activation, the entire system now switches on almost instantly, rather than taking up to 30 minutes as before, whilst the inrush current is simultaneously controlled.
