Challenge
Showpass is the first refurbished passive house in Barcelona to obtain Ecómetro-CO2Nulo and EnerPHit certification. It proposes solutions to address the climate emergency in the housing construction sector.
ShowPass is an active passive house project carried out by Energiehaus with the aim of studying the behaviour of Passivhaus houses and buildings in hot climates.
The house, of traditional style and common in our territory, consists of a ground floor, two floors, terrace and small balconies. It was built in the 19th century and refurbished in 2021.
It has a complete reform of the ground floor, first floor and facades, as well as the replacement of windows and partial insulation on the roof.

Solution
The refurbishment has obtained EnerPHit certification by the Passivhaus Institut, reducing energy for heating and cooling by 80%. The building has been audited by the Ecometre seal resulting in a CO2Null certificate, reducing the ecological impact to a minimum, and reducing emissions with building materials that feature Blockchain technology.
100% of the energy consumed at Showpass comes from renewable sources, approximately half through the photovoltaic installation itself, managing the energy through the Loxone system. Excellent air quality is ensured, thanks to the information received through the sensors, the Loxone Miniserver automates the operation of the aerothermal and ventilation machines.
ShowPass is being monitored to control the energy consumption and comfort performance of the building. If we rely on manual control alone, it is more difficult to be an optimal house for energy efficiency.
In the ShowPass house, elements such as solar shading, as well as active cooling, heating and ventilation systems, needed to achieve the best results at the lowest energy cost, have been automated.
In addition to temperature and renewable energy management, access control functions and the audio system have also been implemented, as well as push buttons throughout the home.
From the Loxone App, owners can visualise and manage statistics and temperatures, as well as all the elements automated with the Loxone system.

To demonstrate the viability of the passive house here in the Mediterranean, we have installed a series of sensors to measure comfort and consumption. Loxone, as a company that specialises in both the control and monitoring of everything related to energy in a house, was a good fit for us.
