Challenge

This passive house project is very special because it is a Premium Passivhaus Housing, the highest and most demanding official certificate available from the German Passivhaus Institute. In addition to the characteristics required for homes with a Passivhaus certificate (low demand for heating, cooling and primary energy, along with airtightness), the generation of renewable energy is added (at least 120 kWh/m2). Again, in this passivhaus home in Zaragoza, the entire program is planned on the ground floor for accessibility reasons. What ends up determining in this plot a formal configuration in two volumes, that of the day program and that of the night program. Which move between them looking for the best orientation and generating between them interstitial spaces of relationship with the outdoor program. In this way, between the two volumes a glass passage materializes between two ponds that enhances that idea of weightlessness in the face of the built material. Furthermore, the house, based on these pure volumes, opens and closes through porches as required by the orientation and program. Thus generating spaces for use and enjoyment. In this premium passivhaus certified home, a modular construction system is proposed that integrates thermal insulation solutions on the outside, working on the airtightness of the home at the same time as its insulation. An aerothermal system is sized for the generation of domestic hot water and air conditioning. But supported by a fan coil for the most specific moments of summer in the day area while the radiant and refreshing floor is responsible for air conditioning the night area. Likewise, it has a heat recovery for more efficient mechanical ventilation in the passive house. In addition, a series of photovoltaic panels are arranged on the roof as well as storage batteries in the home for even more efficient use and enjoyment of the home.

Solution

The project had the focus of automating the home as much as possible with all possible functionalities. Energy management was key to being able to integrate air conditioning using aerothermal energy, the photovoltaic solar installation with batteries and the 2 electric vehicle chargers.

"The comprehensive solution that Loxone offers is what really convinced me to choose them for the home automation control part of my home. It is truly amazing!"
