Challenge
This Vermont project featured a custom lighting design that relied heavily on DMX-controlled architectural fixtures, requiring seamless integration with the Loxone automation platform. The challenge was that the lighting system included multiple DMX universes, RGBW fixtures, tunable white lighting, and custom lighting scenes that all needed to operate as a single, intuitive system. Precise dimming curves, color consistency, low-latency response, and synchronized transitions were essential, while maintaining reliable communication between the Loxone Miniserver and the DMX lighting infrastructure. The client also wanted the lighting to interact automatically with occupancy, daylight levels, schedules, entertainment modes, and whole-home scenes without requiring a separate lighting control interface.
Solution
We engineered a fully integrated solution using Loxone as the central control platform with dedicated DMX extensions to manage every DMX fixture throughout the home. Each lighting fixture was individually addressed, programmed, and mapped into Loxone, allowing dynamic scenes, smooth fades, circadian lighting adjustments, and color-changing effects to operate seamlessly alongside conventional lighting circuits. Advanced automation logic synchronized the DMX lighting with the time of day, audio, shading, security, and time-based events, creating a unified smart home experience. The result was a robust, highly responsive lighting system that delivered professional-grade performance while remaining simple for the homeowner to control from Loxone Touch switches, the Loxone App, and automated scenes.
