Boiler Room Automation

Challenge

The aim of the project was to create an energy-efficient, fully automated boiler room, as the existing system generated high costs.

Solution

The boiler room was equipped with a Loxone system based on a Miniserver and expansion modules, which took full control of the heat sources and heating circuits. Grundfos Magna3 circulation pumps were integrated not only via 0-10V analog outputs for smooth control but also connected to the system via a communication bus. This provided comprehensive information about their operation, such as fluid temperature, current flow, power, speed, and operating mode.

Both Brötje boilers were connected to the Loxone automation system via Modbus, enabling remote reading of technical parameters, operating status, and alarm notification. The system immediately reports any irregularities, significantly increasing the safety and stability of the boiler room.

The implemented solutions allowed for smooth, energy-efficient operation of the entire system, reduced heating costs, and full system supervision—exactly what was missing in the previous configuration.

"I chose Loxone because I want the boiler room to be tidy and the appliances to do their job, not just pretend to be working. This system simply covers everything from A to Z."
