A Smart Church in Kent

St Mary's is a historic 12th-century church located in a Kentish village. Due to a long-term issue with their lighting system they needed a new adaptable control system that could control all the lights in the building (of which there are almost 100) from a single place or app.





As an open church with poor natural light, they were also concerned with rising energy costs from keeping their lights on all day (even if nobody is present).

The new lighting system now runs through a Loxone Miniserver, enabling full control over every lighting circuit in the church. We added dimming to provide more control over the lights - enabling a wider variety of uses.





The lights are now controlled via a customised Loxone Touch Pure Flex with 12 presets, or via the Loxone App so the Vicar can even control the lights from his lectern.





We also added automation via a Presence Sensor at the entrance. This allows the Church to reduce their electricity usage by only using their lights when necessary for a visitor.
