What is LOXONE?
LOXONE is a complete automation system with intuitive control – suitable for smart homes, commercial premises and custom applications. LOXONE is a fully-scalable solution allowing for the creation of automation in single-point applications to fully custom extensive smart homes. The automation often includes energy management, lighting, room climate, audio, security, access and shading.
Who is LOXONE?
LOXONE is the manufacturer of the building automation hardware and software. The system is installed, configured and maintained by our network of registered Loxone installers – our Partners – typically trained electricians, who should be your first point of contact for support with your home’s installation.
Does the system need maintaining?
Yes, consider home automation systems like your boiler or your car, to ensure they are performing in optimal working order and ensure their longevity you need to maintain them. This would be done through a trained and registered LOXONE Installation Partner.
Should I set up a maintenance contract with an approved LOXONE Partner?
Yes, this would be exactly what we would recommend to ensure that both parties know what is included in the system, the service being provided for the system and the regularity of maintenance.
Does the system work without WIFI?
Not got your WIFI setup yet… no problem at all. LOXONE works independently to WIFI and the cloud. This ensures that the system is not impacted by its downtime and provides great security protection.
Note: Without WIFI there is no App access and when a Miniserver is initially setup it requires WIFI but as you are moving into an existing Smart Home this will not impact you.
How to control the LOXONE system?
First of all, you rarely need to step in and control the system as it is an intrelligent automation system but should you want to control the system you can. The most common times to step in and set things up is when you first move into the new house and when you want to make updates to schedules and moods. You can easily control all you need through the LOXONE App*. Plus, Touch switch controls allow an in person point of control.
A common question people have is will guests who are unfamiliar with the house or less tech savvy be able to control the house? And the answer is simply yes, all of the controls they will need are on the Touch switch (lights, shading, audio) – usually designed via the T5 Standard. They don’t need to use the app at all.
