Creating an automation system for a customer with hearing disability was the challenge of this project.

Task: To provide a smart home solution that enables a customer with hearing loss to receive instant alerts for doorbell ringing, hot water activation, smoke and security alarms, enhancing safety, security, and everyday convenience. The bed vibrational alarm clock also had to be integrated to the automation system.

We installed long runs of RGBW LED strips throughout the apartment, allowing the customer to receive visual notifications through different flashing colours for each system alert.

The apartment building’s central doorbell was integrated into the LOXONE smart home system, enabling the customer to be alerted through flashing LED lights whenever the doorbell rings, rather than relying on the audible signal from the doorbell monitor.

For safety and security, the RGBW LED strips flash red whenever the fire or security alarm is activated. In the bathroom, a waterproof LED strip illuminates in blue whenever the hot water heater is powered on, providing a clear visual indication.

Another key challenge was integrating a custom-made bed vibration alarm clock into the LOXONE automation system. The alarm is now fully controlled through the smart home platform and can also trigger bright flashing white lights, open the shutters, and activate the bed vibration system for a reliable wake-up routine.

For added safety, the hob and oven are automatically switched off after two hours of operation if left on unintentionally. Additional smart home features, including heating and cooling control, were also implemented as part of this project.
