Modernization of ventilation

An existing, outdated ventilation control system in a large building no longer met today's requirements in terms of ease of use, transparency, and ease of maintenance. The control system was not integrated into the existing building management system. The goal was a comprehensive modernization with integration into the existing Loxone system and the replacement of the field devices.

The existing control system was replaced with a new Loxone Miniserver (client) and seamlessly integrated into the existing Loxone system. The ventilation components are controlled via a new control cabinet, which controls the frequency converters for supply and exhaust air, as well as the plate heat exchanger.



All field devices were replaced with Belimo components with Modbus RTU and integrated into the Loxone control system, including damper drives, actuators, and pressure and volume flow sensors. The temperatures in the ventilation system are recorded using 1-Wire sensors. The fire dampers are also integrated into the new control system via hardware inputs and outputs.



The entire visualization and operation is user-friendly via the Loxone app. A customized system image, software system switches, setpoints, alarm notifications, and detailed monitoring of operating states were implemented. This enables rapid response to faults and simple system monitoring, both locally and remotely.
