Mobile Tinyhome

Challenge

The project comprises of a tiny house that is loaded onto a truck and serves as a living and working space. It is mobile and exposed to changing environmental conditions such as humidity, temperature and air quality. Despite a limited space of 15 m2, it offers different room categories: Sleeping areas (bunks, alcoves), a main lounge, a separate bathroom/WC and an integrated fitted kitchen. Integration into the Victron Energy island system as well as air conditioning and control of air and heating systems are planned. Special challenges such as limited light due to small windows, limited space for building automation and use by several people are met with clever solutions. Security (burglary and fire protection) is provided by lighting and audio systems as well as app control. In sleep or absence mode, all consumers that are not required, including 230 VAC devices, are automatically switched off.

Solution

The installation could be integrated directly due to the existing 24 VDC on-board network and there was no need for separate power supplies. Due to the small windows, shading was not required. Each room was individually equipped in consultation with the builder, with particular emphasis being placed on lighting and air conditioning due to the special challenges. The existing, decentralized systems (Victron Energy, Truma air conditioning and air diesel heating system, LEAF fan) could be easily integrated into the Loxone configuration. The system could be configured regardless of location using the weather service and the existing GPS system so that the system is supplied with the current environmental variables.

Each area could be viewed individually by parameterizing the presence. The Audioserver is used for the main lounge sound system and alarm. An individual lighting concept was able to simulate daylight despite the poor lighting conditions, thus creating optimal feel-good conditions.

Loxone was chosen because of the wide range of possible applications and functions that covered all of the special challenges, as well as the specified 24VDC on-board power supply. In addition, the system always offers a healthy indoor climate and well-being despite the different and sometimes extreme conditions, thanks to the optimally coordinated components.
