Challenge
We were required to design and install a smart home system which had lighting controls, multi-room audio, Security and HVAC controls.
This was a really fun project to be a part of; one of our longstanding builders had recently gotten into building estate homes and wanted to implement some features to stand out from the other builders in the area.
This particular home was actually a "Spec-home" so with no immediate buyer we had some fundamentals we had to stick to.
1.) Cost: Obviously with this being a spec-home, cost was an important, so we needed to implement as many features as possible for the dollar.
2.) Ease of use: The system needed to be simple. We needed to appeal to the client who may love smart homes and is rather "techy," and to the client who may only be able to operate their phone.
3.) reliability: We need something that can be reliable day in and day out for years to come.

Solution
Simple quality of life features such as "night mode" where once activated, in the event you wake up in the middle of the night to use the washroom or grab a quick glass of water, it will dimly light your path to your destination automatically without blinding you or disturbing others who may still be asleep.
Automatic humidity extraction is also a personal favorite, simply get in the shower and once the system detects the extra humidity in the room it will turn on the extraction fan until it has returned to normal levels, ultimately preventing mold and excess moisture.

With our experience Loxone became the "no-brainer" choice when requiring all variables; the more you expand, the more cost-effective it gets in terms of gained function.

For example, adopting lighting controls automatically allowed us to add a full functioning security system with very little additional cost, merely a couple hardwired door contacts due to motion/presence sensors already being placed around the home.

Not to mention having a couple spare relay slots from our lighting controls easily allowed us to use the newly available slots for HVAC control.
