Challenge
The Haus Waldeck dog resort in Mitterfirmiansreut - Philippsreut is being renovated and expanded. The architect relies on many light switches in the restaurant rooms (parlors, winter garden, buffet and bar) as well as many meters of LED strips. Almost every circuit should be dimmable. This has so far been implemented by the electricians in the hotels using KNX.
The challenge:
Over 80 light switches and more than 350m of LED strips are to be controlled in the restaurant rooms, reception area, stairwells, entrance area, kitchen and outdoor area. This should work almost without a button.
The audio control (initially only in the bar) should also be controlled.

Solution
Since I don't use KNX, I suggested to the architect (who is Austrian and was not averse to using Loxone in one of his projects) and the building owner to control the restaurant area in the existing building via Loxone, while the electrician in the extension uses KNX. If we want to "link" the whole thing later, we can still do this with the KNX extension and thus rely on the proven visualization from Loxone. This concept has been and is now being implemented.
Solution:
- 3 Loxone Miniservers work in client mode to increase reliability
- 10 Dimmer Extensions control the retrofit bulbs of the lights and recessed spotlights
- 1 Relay Extension for non-dimmable lights, sockets or awnings
- 1 Dali Extension with almost 60 Dali devices
- 1 Air Base to reach areas that cannot be supplied by cable
- 29 Presence Detectors
and some other Loxone components are used.
Further sub-distributions are to be equipped with MultiExtension Air in partial functions in the future.
Due to the installation, which is controlled almost without buttons, the moods in the rooms run fully automatically with a timer using different operating modes and different brightness levels:
- Normal operation
- Breakfast
- Midday
- Dinner
- Evening
- End of evening (bouncer) (light goes fully on while LED strips go out)
Music is played in the bar using 4 wall speakers on the Audioserver.
The sound system in the 11 other rooms, which have already been equipped with loudspeaker sockets, can be expanded with Stereo Extensions.

Since Loxone is a big step ahead of KNX due to its logical programming and the prefabricated modules, I only relied on Loxone for Smart Home. For this project, I used Dali and the Dali Extension for the first time due to the high number of LED strips in a wide range of performance classes. These components can also be easily integrated into the project using Loxone. Perfect...
