Car trailer with PV system

Challenge

We wanted to be prepared for a possible power cut.

In order to be free from any permits, the idea was to build an island PV system on a car trailer as a load. No requirements from the building authority, energy supplier or TÜV.

The stored energy should be enough for a few days of emergency supply.

But the question now was, at 3.6 kW peak, there is a lot of excess energy that is normally not used.

The idea was to store the excess in the cloud. OK cloud not, but blockchain and specifically about mining in cryptocurrencies. So you collect the money for the winter in the summer and it is lighter than batteries.

Solution

Only components from Victron were used for the PV system.

Loxone now takes over the control of the respective mining devices and, depending on the surplus, then switches on additional devices and through the Loxone weather service, the system receives the current and upcoming weather data, which lead to an optimistic, medium or pessimistic mining behavior.

Because depending on the storage charge, the current power generation and the weather conditions, the Loxone Miniserver now decides whether it takes the power from the storage in a cloud or operates a few devices less.

I am currently very satisfied with the solution. You have gained some experience with the system over time and have adjusted parameters and processes, which works really well and easily with the Loxone components
