01The right cable
The green Tree Cable is the standard and connects all Loxone products to the Miniserver. Only a few cases need a different or additional cable.
| Cable | Used for |
|---|---|
| ●Tree Cable | All Loxone products, to the Tree interface of the Miniserver or a Tree Extension. Also the Wall Display (Tree Turbo). |
| ●Audio Cable | Speakers. Same color logic, power via the 1.5 mm² pair. |
| ●Cables for loads | In addition to the Tree Cable, e.g. for shade motors or the EV charger. |
| ●Network (PoE) | The Intercom. |

02Color to color
Colored terminals show where each conductor goes: the green pair into the green terminal, the orange pair into the orange one, the colored conductor on the left, the white one on the right. The Tree Cable has two twisted pairs with 0.8 mm (AWG21): green/white for the data line, orange/white for 24 V to push-buttons, sensors and devices with low power consumption. In addition, there are two 1.5 mm² conductors in orange/white for devices with higher power consumption such as LED Spots or dimmers.

The rule: color to color, colored on the left, white on the right, on every Loxone product. That makes it easy to hand the installation over to colleagues or subcontractors.
03One Tree Cable per room
Rule of thumb: one Tree Cable per room, back to the panel. All Loxone products in the room connect to that cable.
- Combine small rooms. A half bath or storage room shares a cable with another room.
- Split large rooms. An open-plan living area gets two or more cables.
- Treat the heating manifold as a room of its own, with its own Tree Cable.
- Do not fill to the limit. Leave a reserve for later extensions.
The 500 m (1640 ft) apply to the data line. For high-power loads such as Tree lights or dimmers, the length is often much shorter because of voltage drop.

04Audio Cable
The purple Loxone Audio Cable follows the same color logic, but with only two pairs: green/white (0.8 mm) for data and orange/white (1.5 mm²) for the 24 V supply. Speakers need more power, so there is no thin supply pair.

- One Audio Cable per room or audio zone.
- No more than three speakers per Audio Cable.
- Plan the audio zones first, then speakers and cables.
- Master/Client logic: one Master speaker per zone, plus Client speakers where needed.

More on this: in the audio documentation and our audio training courses.
05Topology: anything goes, except a ring
Tree allows line, star, bus with branches or tree, also mixed. The only thing you must never do is close a ring: it causes communication errors and can stop Tree devices from being found. We recommend the tree topology.
06Example: one floor, step by step
All cables start at the panel with the Miniserver in the utility room. Larger projects may have several panels or Miniservers.
Step 1: Tree Cables
Roughly one Tree Cable per room. Bathroom and half bath share one, the heating manifold gets its own.

Step 2: Audio zones
One audio zone for kitchen and living room, one for bathroom and half bath, one per bedroom. Each zone has a Master speaker (M), plus Client speakers (C) where needed.

07Why Loxone cables and products
With Loxone products and cables, you get to a smart home in the safest and easiest way.
- Less cabling. One cable per room instead of one per device.
- Flexible. Later changes are easy, even after years.
- Easy to install. The color logic makes it easy to hand over to colleagues or subcontractors.
Before installationChecklist
- ☐ Right cable planned for every product?
- ☐ No ring anywhere in the Tree?
- ☐ Common ground (GND) connected, also with several power supplies?
- ☐ Cable limits and voltage drop respected, reserve planned?
- ☐ Power supply and backup planned?
- ☐ Different voltages properly separated?
A few minutes of planning save hours later, because most “software problems” turn out to be wiring problems.
