Villa S on Lake Constance

Challenge

The homeowner was already familiar with the benefits of a fully integrated LOXONE system from two previous projects—so expectations for this third house were correspondingly high.

The unique aspect here is a conservatory. Such extensions often end up as a separate area with its own controls: separate shading, separate thermostat, separate operation. This was precisely what they wanted to avoid.

Additionally, they wanted security, shading, and building feedback to be integrated, rather than operating as three separate systems, all based on the same sensors—so the homeowner wouldn't have to learn three different logics, but rather one.

Solution

The conservatory operates on the same set of rules as the rest of the house: shading, climate control, and lighting follow the same automations, not a special logic.

Door and window contacts form the basis for many functions. They serve three purposes: they feed the alarm system, which is further secured by building-wide presence detection. They also control the shading—if an element is open, no blinds or shutters close against it. And they provide the basis for text-to-speech output: the house reports open windows in plain text, in every room.

For lighting, DALI premium lighting is implemented throughout the entire building, supplemented by continuous indirect LED lighting as well as exterior and driveway lighting. Operation is unified via LOXONE Touch Pure.

Audio is available throughout the house and can be individually controlled in each room. Smart radiant heaters are integrated into the exterior, and access is controlled via LOXONE Intercom and NFC, along with garden gate and garage door control.

``` This is complemented by wallboxes and the complete data technology. Everything was planned, installed, and programmed by e-team Smart Home – all from a single source.
The trick with this house wasn't to install as much technology as possible, but to minimize duplication. A single window contact provides security, controls the blinds, and tells you in the evening if anything is still open upstairs. LOXONE manages all of this on one system—that's why we've been building this way for years.
