Villa E on Lake Constance

Challenge

The lighting in this villa comes from three different systems: some of the luxury fixtures are DALI-based, others use Casambi, and there are also indirect LED strips. The air conditioning system operates via KNX.

Each of these systems has its own app, remote control, and logic. The owners travel frequently and needed a house that was easy to use and functioned reliably—without having to deal with a hundred different apps. For them, that would have meant a daily routine: four interfaces for one house, none of them communicating with each other.

The challenge was to integrate all of this into a single control system—without compromising the functionality of any of the components. Furthermore, the exterior had to achieve the same level of automation as the house itself.

Solution

All lighting systems are integrated via LOXONE: DALI via the DALI interface, Casambi connected, and the indirect LED strips dimmed directly via LOXONE. The air conditioning is controlled via KNX. The homeowner sees none of this – they operate a single interface.

Climate control and heating are fully integrated and regulated building-wide, supported by presence detection in all areas. Text-to-speech provides feedback throughout the house, and the alarm system operates via window contacts.

The villa's exterior is just as automated as its interior: smart external shading, timed driveway lighting, gate control, smart irrigation control, and an integrated robotic lawnmower. Access is managed via an intercom video intercom system, supplemented by camera surveillance and comprehensive data technology.

On the energy side, photovoltaics, energy management, and the wallbox we installed work together seamlessly – charging is based on available power, not randomly. Even the kitchen appliances are part of the system.

e-team Smart Home planned, installed and programmed everything.

Three lighting protocols and a KNX air conditioning system in one house—that's exactly the scenario where customers would normally be juggling four different apps. With LOXONE, it all comes together on a single button. The homeowner doesn't even notice the different systems operating underneath. And that's exactly how it should be.
