Challenge

The client wanted to control the lighting and openings operating in existing KNX

He also wanted to add automation features (pursuit of the sun with the BSOs, regulation of heating room by room, feedback from the pellet boiler, control of the double flow VMC, supervision of lighting during prolonged absence )

The request to add a multi-room audio system arrived during the project, with many other functionalities (IP video intercom, intrusion alarm, weighing of gas cylinders, etc.)

Solution

We started with the Loxone solution with the Gen.1 miniserver, it integrates the KNX as well as the modbus TCP and native inputs/outputs. It was therefore perfectly suited to this project.

Thanks to the modbus TCP, it is able to communicate with the boiler and the double flow VMC

We added an audioserver to control the audio of the rooms

A tree interface has been added in order to add a touch surface switch in the shower, a touch surface will also be provided in the kitchen

The weight sensors are connected to the 0-10V inputs in order to create alerts before there is no more gas

A notification is sent to the phone when the electric car is not connected to be recharged

We recover the state of intrusion of the alarm via an input of the miniserver to use the audioserver to add loudspeakers throughout the house

The adjustable sun breakers are controlled according to the sunshine, the outside and inside temperatures, the positions of the facades. Thus, the request for heating or limiting the temperature is calculated each day in order to promote or not the entry of heat into the house.

Ventilation is controlled automatically according to:

- the chimney probe -> compensation in blowing only to avoid the creation of smoke in the house and to fan the fire

- the hygrometry sensor -> overventilation when the humidity in the kitchen or bathroom exceeds a humidity threshold and automatically reset when returning to normal

- Lighting of the hood -> Compensation in blowing only at high speed so that the smoke evacuates as quickly as possible

- Indoor and outdoor temperatures -> management of "free-cooling" mode to lower the temperature of the house on summer nights or "free-heating" conversely in winter if the conditions are met

We were already very happy with the KNX solution with its grouped functions (general switching off of lighting, general closing/opening of openings, scenarios on buttons, etc.), but the addition of the Loxone solution exceeded all our expectations. and opened us up to new functionalities: lighting, openings, intelligent heating, ventilation, intrusion, audio etc... are now accessible from a single interface: Loxone. However, the use remains simple. The installation is even more scalable than before!<br /><br /> We are thinking of changing the miniserver so that it can manage the piloting via siri. And thanks to the possibilities of loxone, many future features are planned: Video intercom with code access management for the cleaning lady, creation of delivery scenarios, integrating sensors into the mailbox to alert us of receipt mail, control of multimedia equipment, etc...
