Ensuring and increasing the safety of nursing home patients by installing an entrance door surveillance system against inadvertent opening and the possibility of expanding the system in the future with additional functions ensuring increased energy efficiency.

The investor contacted our company asking about the possibility of implementing access control in a medical facility he runs near Wrocław. Until now, staff at the facility opened the door every time someone entered or left using their keys. The keys were lost, worn out or caught, which exposed the Investor to unnecessary costs related to the replacement of cylinder locks. The facility focuses on providing medical care services for the elderly, dependent and disabled requiring constant medical care due to their health condition.

After a short conversation, we knew that the Investor's expectations are broader than just access control to the facility. We proposed the following solution. Loxone NFC Code Touch Air both outside the facility so that medical personnel can enter the building and inside the building so that medical personnel can leave it. The use of NFC Code Touch from Loxone provides more functionality than just entering/exiting a building. Both the Investor and the employees gained the possibility of controlling working time. Thanks to this, there is no need to keep tedious paper notes every month and then pass them on to the HR department. From now on, the management and employees know exactly how many hours and on which duty day a given person worked. The use of NFC Code Touch relieved the HR department, thanks to which the Investor gained real savings. Each user (employee) has a coded chip and an access code. In the Loxone system, employees of the human resources department see the exact time and date of logging into the system by name and surname.

Another important factor in choosing Loxone was the issue of future expansion of the system, a very important functionality that was not offered by other brand systems. Namely, the ability to manage the heating energy in the building. In the future, the investor plans to expand the system with thermostatic heads and temperature sensors in the rooms, so as to manage the heat in the facility more effectively and to make the biomass-powered stove (Pellet) more efficient and energy-saving. During the installation of the NFC Code Touch, we noticed that the lighting was switched on everywhere, especially in rooms where no one was present, and there are a lot of such rooms due to the schedule of the day, because every or almost every patient walks alone in the morning or is transported in a wheelchair by the staff at canteen, the facility has 35 residents, so you can see traffic in the corridors from the morning. Haste probably translates into forgetting to turn off the lights in the rooms. Also in this case, Loxone gave us ready-made solutions. Because together with the Investor, we talked about the installation of presence sensors in rooms in the future to further reduce electricity consumption in the facility, but also to reduce heat production during the heating period when the staff tilts or opens the windows to ventilate the rooms during the absence of patients. The icing on the cake is the ability to integrate the already existing monitoring system with the Loxone system, instead of 2 applications, the customer uses one.

To sum up, the client approached us as well as several other companies that offered access control systems, as it turned out during a conversation over coffee. Finally, the investor decided to choose our offer, which would give him much more functionality in the future than just opening and closing the door. Not only the investor gained, but also the ladies from the human resources ;)
