Drei Tannen Climbing Centre

Challenge

The Moosburg branch of the German Alpine Club wanted to allow its members to go climbing not only during the club’s usual opening hours, but also before work or in the morning. However, the reception desk is only staffed during limited hours. A solution was therefore sought to allow self-service access without staff on site, combined with an automated control system for lighting, music, heating and ventilation that is both convenient and energy-efficient.

Solution

LOXONE enables independent access to the climbing centre: members are given a chip that allows them to enter the centre at their usual times without needing to go to the reception desk. Upon entering the guest area, the lighting and music switch on automatically, depending on the level of natural light.

Heating and ventilation can also be automated in an energy-efficient manner using LOXONE: a newly integrated underfloor heating system with thermostats, together with automatically controlled windows, ensures a comfortable indoor climate. In the bouldering area, ceiling spotlights controlled via LOXONE regulate the heat, whilst in the climbing hall, concrete core activation with servo motors ensures largely self-sufficient operation.

Furthermore, LOXONE enables demand-based ventilation control: a CO₂ sensor continuously monitors air quality and automatically opens or closes the windows as required, supplemented by hourly, time-controlled burst ventilation. A synchronised audio system and flexible coloured lighting round off the in-hall experience.

Last but not least, LOXONE provides convenient remote control of the entire hall: via the LOXONE app, the system can be operated at any time and from anywhere – for example, to open the door for tradespeople or switch the lights on, without the need to be on site.

You can actually control just about everything via the app. For example, if a tradesperson wants to come in, I can let them in via the app without having to come over myself – I can even switch the lights on and off that way.
