Challenge
In 2024, the town of Lasbordes, located in the Aude, undertook the renovation of its school, with a clear objective: to modernize the infrastructure while optimizing energy management. As for the media library, already certified as a positive energy building (BPOS), the challenge was to integrate a new building technical management system (BMS) without disrupting the existing installations. All this while ensuring intelligent management of consumption and indoor climate conditions.
Solution
To meet this challenge, we installed a Loxone Miniserver, allowing communication with the existing management system via the BacNet and ModBus TCP protocols. Thanks to this interface, we were able to centralize the energy information from the existing PLC and optimize the school's management. This merger of systems added additional intelligence to the building, drawing on our expertise in home automation and energy management.
To go even further, we deployed a private LoRaWAN network on the school, thus retrieving data from various probes measuring temperature, humidity, CO2, and volatile organic compounds (VOCs). This increases the functionalities of the BMS, for example by detecting the opening of windows or ensuring the homogeneity of temperatures in the classrooms.
Finally, the installation of a photovoltaic roof by other specialist companies has enhanced energy management, providing additional information on solar energy consumption and production, thereby reinforcing the intelligent behaviour of the building.

We are very satisfied with the system implemented. It works autonomously, optimizing the school's energy management without requiring constant intervention. The temperature is regulated automatically, and it takes into account elements such as opening windows, which improves the comfort of students while reducing our energy consumption. It is a real asset for our community and a simple solution to use on a daily basis.
