Challenge
ANAFRA s.r.o., a top company in the field of IT, focusing mainly on server technologies and the provision of cloud services, planned the construction of a new building, its headquarters and a highly secure data center located on two floors of the basement of the building. The purpose was to integrate all technologies into one cooperating unit so that the building behaves intelligently, economically and at the same time brings comfort to the employees. After initial consultations and considerations, Loxone was chosen as the control system, the entire building, including the MaR and the parking lot, is controlled by 4 pcs of second-generation miniservers that are programmatically connected to each other.
Solution
The new ANAFRA building is exceptional in many ways. There is a highly secure data center on two underground floors. The five floors house a modern work environment with facilities for the production of servers, thousands of which ANAFRA supplies to customers from all over the world every year. All control of lights, shading, temperature and air conditioning is fully automated and optimized, which contributes not only to ecological operation, but also to user comfort. Compared to traditional data centers, which do not use waste heat from technology in any way, ANAFRA has redundant cooling that also ensures the overtime collection of waste heat for heating the entire building. Today, this includes the photovoltaic power plant installed on the roof. Technologies for backup power supply, including a motor generator, are installed in the data center, which will ensure the operation of up to 1,500 servers in the event of a failure of two independent branches of electricity. Data center connectivity is handled by several physically and geographically independent optical routes. The data hall also has an inert gas extinguishing system, which in the event of a fire extinguishes the fire without damaging the installed server technology. Data center connectivity is handled by several physically and geographically independent optical routes. 4 pcs of second generation miniservers and extensions take care of all connection of technologies and their mutual cooperation. For example, DALI lighting for control of dimmable sources, integration of Paradox Evo via RS232, 7 pcs of Modbus extensions for complex HVAC control and integration of electricity meters, redundant cooling and timeless waste heat extraction from servers for heating the entire building, M-Bus bus for integration of water meters, KNX extensions for special user interface. The assignment was to integrate everything, so it also reached the adjacent parking lot and its access and lighting.
The investment exceeding CZK 100 million in the center of Rožnov pod Radhoštěm is exceptional not only in its scope, but also in the modern technologies used. We wanted to build a pleasant working environment for our employees, the building is completely ventilated. On the top floor there is a living room with a terrace planted with trees, shrubs and perennials. Building automation, a green terrace or the use of waste heat from the data center for building heating illustrate the way we think about the meaningful use of resources, both in our building and in the design of server solutions for our customers.
