Challenge
This client has social interaction at the heart of its organisational DNA. After the Corona pandemic, many employees did return to the office with some regularity, but the liveliness in the office was nothing like before the Corona pandemic. In particular, casual spontaneous creativity and conversations at the coffee machine were missed. Senior management realised that employees help determine the location where they work based on the activities they have planned that day.
This client really knows all about how people work and ensures that thousands of people in the Netherlands and abroad can work anywhere, anyplace, anytime and anyhow. Although their services focus on the digital workplace of their clients' employees, they have - armed with this knowledge - developed a vision of the ultimate office experience. Rolling out this vision should be done incrementally. On the one hand, because management itself wanted to be closely involved in detailing that vision. On the other, because the office had to remain open and could be used during the renovation.

Solution
NewBricks' modular concept fits well with this hands-on step-by-step renovation of this office building. Besides the office experience, it was also the client's wish to develop this office building to the highest level in terms of energy management. The client is ISO certified when it comes to its services to its customers, so it was also a logical step to express the ambition to achieve the new ISO 50001 certification with this renovation, whereby employees gain insight into energy consumption, but also systematically strive to reduce this energy consumption.
This first phase of the renovation has resulted in the conversion of the outdated canteen area into a real Bistro, where working and meeting over a drink and a snack go hand in hand. But larger presentations can also be given here, with the audio-visual technology available making it possible to give even online listeners the full “in-person” experience.
The suspended ceiling conceals presence sensors, LED lighting and Quadral built-in speakers. The automatic mood lighting and automatic room climate control (based on traditional convectors and AC) make it an inviting environment to work and meet. Automatically controlled TV screens and atmospheric music greet you as you enter. Interested parties are shown the Loxone energy flow monitor on a wall panel, which attractively shows what energy the Bistro is currently consuming (broken down by categories). Energy consumption has been extensively optimised. The lighting, audio and TV screens become active only when present in the room, and this equipment is even switched off completely, eliminating standby consumption when no employees are present in the premises.
Together with the customer, we look forward to the next space we get to realise for them.

I had always wanted to have my own wine bar. Unfortunately, such a “combo job” turned out to be not really realistic for me. All the more fun to have been able to bring this experience to our office environment. My favourite spot is now here on the sofa!
