The Croft

The Croft is a contemporary home set in the Peak District, with open-plan living, kitchen and entertaining spaces flowing through full-height glazing onto dramatic countryside views. The clients wanted a smart home that felt effortless to live with: lighting that responded to the time of day and the mood of the room, audio woven seamlessly into the architecture, and climate fully managed in the background. The challenge was to deliver this without the technology becoming visible. The design language is clean, minimal and architectural, so every device, speaker and control needed to disappear into the building fabric.

A LOXONE Miniserver runs the entire system. Architectural linear LED lighting throughout the open-plan living, kitchen, dining and circulation spaces is driven by three RGBW 24V Tree Dimmers, with three Dimmer Extensions and a Relay Extension handling additional lighting and switched loads. Multi-room audio is delivered through two Install Speaker 7” Masters and one Install Speaker 7” Client, ceiling-flush throughout the main living spaces, with the master units handling streaming and zone control natively. Ten Tree Touch switches replace traditional light switches across the home, with three Presence Sensor Trees triggering automated lighting in key circulation areas. Climate is fully integrated: an air source heat pump connected via Modbus, two Room Comfort Sensor Airs, and Intelligent Room Controllers running heating and cooling automatically. An Aico mains-and-battery fire detection system is integrated into the LOXONE Miniserver via a relay base and digital input, with a configured alarm chain providing app push notifications, automated lighting response, event logging and an automated emergency call sequence in the event of an alarm. The LOXONE Weather Station feeds environmental data into the logic. The customer operates everything through the Touch switches, the LOXONE App, or fully automated scenes - Welcome, Goodnight and Leaving - that we configured around their daily routines.
