Challenge
The project's goal was to create an integrated automation system for an energy-intensive public facility, such as an indoor swimming pool. The system was to enable effective management of heat sources, pool systems, user comfort, and energy consumption. The key was to integrate multiple technical installations into a single, coherent system that would support facility operation, facilitate fault diagnostics, and optimize swimming pool operation based on current conditions.
Solution
The facility integrates a Loxone system with the swimming pool's key technical installations. The automation system includes a 170 kWp photovoltaic system, a 500 kW multi-burner gas boiler, three ground-source heat pumps, each drawing approximately 20 kW of electricity, energy meters located at key points in the facility, and reactive power compensator monitoring.
The system controls domestic hot water preparation, central heating circuits, and the pool hall's underfloor heating. Based on current operating conditions, heat demand, and the facility's energy situation, the automation system automatically selects the optimal heating source—heat pumps or a gas boiler.
The automation system also manages the heating of the sports pool, recreational pool, and jacuzzi. This allows for maintaining stable water parameters and user comfort while simultaneously monitoring the operation of heat sources and process circuits.
Temperature, humidity, and air quality parameters, including CO₂ concentration, are monitored in customer-accessible areas. An information tablet has been installed in the main lobby, displaying current water and room temperatures to customers.
A clear system diagram has been prepared for the swimming pool staff, allowing them to monitor system operation, monitor key parameters, and report and identify faults. This makes Loxone not only an automation system but also a tool supporting the daily operation and technical management of the facility.
