An “all inclusive” smart ho

Challenge

With our experts, we have implemented a smart home project in Liechtenstein. This multi-party house, consisting of four units, is equipped with very extensive technical finesse.

“We were able to implement a comprehensive smart home solution for all four units of the building for this customer. From light control to energy management to the alarm system, all areas and functions are coordinated here.” Pascal Madlener, Smart Home team leader

Solution

The future residents of this house attached great importance to the comprehensive integration of all areas right from the planning stage. Planned and implemented in this way, there are many synergies in a smart home that simplify the lives of residents every day. Just one example: A weather station that measures the outside temperature and knows the current weather report can react to precipitation, storm warnings and temperature drops. If it doesn't rain for three days, watering for the garden is automatically activated.

What advantages does a Smart Home bring?

A networked home makes everyday life easier. So work e.g. B. the heating, ventilation and shading go hand in hand and ensure - fed with the current weather data - for the desired room climate with optimal energy management.

A central control with Loxone allows the various components to communicate and coordinate with each other. The advantages are obvious when it comes to lighting alone: Instead of switching each lamp on and off individually or dimming it, entire lighting moods are created for the living area, e.g. B. reading or working programmed. In this way, residents can switch from one mood to another at the touch of a button.

How does the control of a smart home work?

As with conventional electrical installations, many functions such as light, music and shading are mainly controlled via buttons. You can easily click through between the saved scenes. In this project, the shading is automatically raised or lowered as required, depending on the position of the sun and the inside and outside temperature. However, residents can intervene at any time and control the shading via the button or the Loxone app.

In particular, the central commands such as "leave home" or "good night" lead to more comfort and security in your own home. Many functions are carried out with one click when "leaving house": The temperature is lowered, all lights are switched off and the alarm system monitors the house.

The Loxone app enables the smart home to be controlled via any mobile phone or tablet in your own WLAN. In addition to the functions that are also on the buttons, more detailed settings can be made here. The central functions can also be easily processed by the residents themselves.

How does energy management work in the smart home?

In this project, the excess PV energy produced is used according to the following prioritization:

Priority 1: increasing the temperature in the heat pump

Priority 2: For the electric heating rod for domestic water heating

Priority 3: For the electric heating rod of the heating water

Priority 4: pool heating

Full energy monitoring is recorded for all four tops. In this way, power and heat are monitored, constantly optimized and outliers are identified immediately. The billing of both the electricity and the thermal energy is carried out using the recorded values in the Loxone system.

Who is planning the smart home?

During the planning phase of a house, the basic decision for a conventional electrical installation or a smart home is made. “We plan smart home concepts for our customers and implement them with the electricians on site. This cooperation has already proven itself in many projects,” reports Pascal Madlener, who heads the Smart Home team.

Guaranteed overview

In addition to the many comfort functions that a networked smart home offers, you can easily keep track of everything in a single app.

I know at all times how much power our PV system is currently producing, how high the energy consumption of the individual tops or the entire building is, or who is ringing the doorbell!
