Challenge

Hospital environments require precise and stable climate control to support patient recovery and ensure medical staff performance. However, the existing system struggled with temperature fluctuations, leading to patient discomfort - overheated rooms during the day and cold environments at night. Additionally, inefficient energy use resulted in higher operational costs and environmental impact. The hospital lacked an intelligent, centralized control system capable of managing temperature dynamically and adapting to the specific needs of various zones, which made energy management and system monitoring labour-intensive and reactive rather than proactive.

Solution

We have included over 300 Valve Actuators and Presence Sensors that automatically regulate room temperature based on time of day, occupancy, and external weather conditions. This ensured a consistently comfortable environment for patients, significantly enhancing their experience and recovery conditions. Additionally, the system enabled precise, zone-specific energy control, reducing heat loss and optimizing energy consumption. Integration of renewable energy sources further supported the hospital's sustainability goals. In spaces such as Building D, used primarily during daytime hours, energy use was aligned with actual demand, reducing waste and lowering costs. Overall, the BMS provided hospital management with centralized, real-time control and monitoring, streamlining operations, reducing manual intervention, and elevating both efficiency and user satisfaction.

This investment will primarily have measurable economic and ecological outcomes, as well as a real impact on improving the comfort of treatment and patient care. The project is an example of how we are gradually reducing energy consumption in public buildings in Poland. The hospital can expect lower energy costs, and additionally, the thermal modernization will contribute to the fight for clean air, thanks in part to electricity from renewable sources.
