Challenge
The Domat/Ems fire department faced the challenge that its existing access control system was technically outdated and increasingly unreliable. Furthermore, the centralized management of numerous access authorizations proved to be time-consuming, error-prone, and lacking in transparency. Therefore, a modern, fail-safe, and user-friendly solution was sought that would enable flexible, location-independent management of access rights and sustainably simplify operations.
Solution
Smart Access Control with Loxone
As part of the modernization of the fire department's infrastructure, the existing access control system was completely replaced by an intelligent Loxone solution from eMDe SmartFabrik. The goal was to make access to all areas of the building efficient, secure, and future-proof.
Several installed NFC Code Touch Terminals now enable convenient access via NFC tag or PIN code – individually configurable for each user group. The management of over 60 active users is handled centrally via the Loxone app, allowing all permissions to be adjusted flexibly and from any location by those responsible.
Particularly practical: Temporary access can be granted with just a few clicks – for example, for tradespeople, suppliers, or external emergency services. Every access event is automatically logged and documented in real time, so a complete event history is available at any time. The logs can also be regularly sent to those responsible via email.
The advantages for the Domat/Ems fire department:
- Reliable operation thanks to modern, low-maintenance Loxone technology
- Central management of all access rights via the intuitive app
- Flexible access control for internal and external personnel
- Automatic logging for maximum transparency and security
- Future-proof, scalable solution that can be expanded at any time
With this solution, eMDe SmartFabrik AG was able to fully meet the requirements of the Domat/Ems fire department in Graubünden – paving the way for a digitally networked, efficient fire department operation.
