Energy measurement with LOXONE

The client wanted to monitor their building's energy consumption in detail and be able to transparently analyze individual loads. The goal was to separately record large loads such as heat pumps, cooling systems, charging infrastructure, and production facilities in order to identify peak loads and optimize energy use. However, the existing electrical installation did not offer a centralized evaluation of individual circuits.

The aim of the measurement was twofold: firstly, to provide meaningful data for expanding a photovoltaic system, and secondly, to be able to manage large loads in the future.

A current measurement system using current transformers (CT terminals) was installed and integrated into the LOXONE system. This allows for precise current measurement on the main and sub-distribution boards without requiring any modifications to the existing wiring. The measured values are processed and visualized directly within the LOXONE system. This enables real-time monitoring of individual loads, total consumption, and peak loads.

The customer now has a transparent overview of their building's energy consumption. Energy-intensive systems can be specifically analyzed and optimized. Furthermore, the integration with LOXONE facilitates future automations such as load management, PV optimization, and the intelligent control of large loads.
