Challenge
Existing wallbox and controller, older (over 10 years old) domestic hot water heat pump without intelligent control.
Excess power regulation for all existing components without replacement.

Solution
Using a Miniserver Compact and Modbus TCP integration, the data from the wallbox and controller is repurposed for control and measurement.
The 1-Wire system is equipped for future heat generation requirements.
A two-stage excess power control system was implemented with different target temperatures depending on the state of charge and charging power of the PV system's battery.
A minimum target temperature and a winter timer were integrated to ensure comfort even with limited sunshine.
All values, such as target temperature, minimum heat pump runtime, hysteresis, and battery state of charge (SOC), are linked and adjustable, as are the current status (stage activation) and current energy level.
