Challenge

In two neighboring apartment buildings, each with its own PV system and heat pump, a central energy management system was to be implemented to increase efficiency and optimize self-consumption. In addition, the heat supply was implemented through energy contracting by SAK. The goal was to cover the heat provided with PV surplus wherever possible, to transparently display energy flows, and to intelligently network the system controls.

Solution

Two Loxone Miniservers were used in a master-client network for the implementation. All energy measurements are taken via Smart-me meters, which accurately record both the balance measurement and all consumption and generation points.



The two photovoltaic systems each feed the buildings, while two heat pumps, operated by the SAK (Swiss Energy Association), are controlled via an automated PV surplus logic. Temperature monitoring of the hot water buffers enables demand-oriented charging and heat provision.



The Loxone Energy Flow Monitor visualizes all relevant data in real time: generation, consumption, feed-in, and current buffer temperatures. The combination of Smart-me measurement technology, intelligent control, and external heat supply via contracting creates a fully networked, energy-efficient system.
