Building La Pista, Balenyà

Building La Pista, Balenyà

Challenge

We make everyday life easier for the building's users and workers by automating all the regular tasks that were previously performed manually, such as switching lights on and off, raising and lowering blinds, and controlling the heating temperature. This not only optimises processes, but also improves comfort and efficiency within the building.

In addition, we provide total control over access, both to the interior of the building and to the different rooms (Library, Casal Jove, Music School classrooms, Municipal Radio). A person designated by the council is in charge of managing who can enter and the codes that are generated for each user, thus guaranteeing security and organisation in access to the facilities.

Solution

We implemented presence detectors that adjust the intensity of the lights (DALI system) to create atmospheres adapted to each activity, such as ‘story time’ in the library, activities in the music room and events in the multi-purpose room.

In the bar and other common areas, dimmable lighting is automatically adjusted to ensure an optimal level of light intensity, enhancing the experience in each space.

We have an advanced access control system and sophisticated underfloor heating control, including LOXONE Tree heads and control of the primary and secondary climate circuits. In addition, the building's blinds are unique and bespoke, specifically designed to complement the aesthetics of the site.

To facilitate user interaction with the building, we have installed flex push buttons that allow for easy control of the blinds, lights and desired temperature.

Future projects include:

The integration of photovoltaics (with Modbus TCP) to monitor the building's solar production and manage the main electrical loads connected to the LOXONE system.
The integration of ventilation (with Modbus RTU) and CO2 probes to ensure optimal air quality on each floor.

This project has been an important source of learning for us, as it is a large building where we have installed a significant number of devices that allow us to offer the end user what I consider to be LOXONE's added value: savings. For example, we use a simple presence detector for several functions: controlling the climate, turning lights on/off and adjusting their intensity (lux); three categories managed with a single device. Similarly, touch devices allow us to raise/lower blinds and turn on/off lights, but also to adjust the intensity of the latter, and to function as temperature thermostats and humidity monitors.

Not forgetting the central server, the Miniserver, which is a clear example of how to integrate EVERYTHING with a single programme. This system manages access keypads, lighting, ventilation, photovoltaics, underfloor heating, pumps, boiler, blinds and more, demonstrating the versatility and centralisation capability of our system.
