Challenge
This 14th-century castle, located in the Ain department, has undergone several renovations over the centuries, including a major technical upgrade in 2010.
Although the entire building is equipped with KNX, lighting management remained cumbersome for the end user, particularly due to the size of the site and the variety of lighting moods required.
The recent enhancement of the exterior, through the use of colored lighting, provided an opportunity to integrate a control and monitoring solution that could be discreetly incorporated into a listed building without altering its identity or architecture.

Solution
Loxone was integrated as a complementary layer to the existing KNX system, extending its functionality and making it more user-friendly.
The solution now allows for easy control of the castle's lighting through scenarios, automation, and lighting moods tailored to different uses.
The exterior spaces—gardens and facades—have also been enhanced with RGBW lighting designed for specific scenarios. Loxone's native compatibility with KNX and DMX protocols ensured seamless integration while respecting the constraints of a heritage site.

Loxone was the obvious choice to take back control of the existing installation and offer simple and intuitive use, while preserving the functional richness of KNX in a large-scale building.
