Presence Sensor and pets

Hello,

I’m planning to use Loxone in my future house. I still have some question regarding the presence sensor.

I want to use it to detect intrusions, but I have a dog… I just want to verify whether the motion sensor are compatible with pets or not.

I don’t want my dog to went off the alarm as soon as he moves a muscle…

Do you know if it is possible to adjust the sensibility of the sensor ?

Hi Mikael

Will be difficult to sum up in a short response and as these things are of course very fluid based on needs and design of the house ultimately this is something to discuss with your installer as they will be able to guide you further. However.

  1. Yes the sensitivity of these can be adjusted, however the primary function of these sensors is to detect presence for the automation of lighting, heating, audio etc… Intrusion detection is an added bonus but does mean they are not inherently ‘pet friendly’.
  2. However this is where clever design comes in, it is possible to define that two sensors must activate to trigger an alarm, therefore if your dog is confined to a particular area this will solve this problem.
  3. Otherwise only core sensors can be included on the alarm and then external protection be provided from window/door contacts.
  4. Third party ‘pet friendly’ detectors could be used in some areas in place of Presence sensors, this would obviously be a trade off, they would be less likely to set the alarm off from the dog, but more likely to turn lights off on you while watching TV.

All in all I’m sure there will be a solution that allows you to have an amazing smart home and this is where a Loxone partner can work with you to determing your exact requirements and needs.

Wow, thank you for your very precise answer. Unfortunately I can’t contact the Loxone partner in charge of my projet for 3 months at least… Medical reason…
So I’m trying to solve some remaining unclear subjects. Now I understand the exact purpose of the presence sensors. I won’t use them to secure my house.

Thanks again for your answer, I really appreciate
