Top tier automated LED pitch lighting at Slavia Prague’s Fortuna Arena
As the most modern football stadium in the Czech Republic, the Fortuna Arena needs sophisticated pitch lighting to match that status. Slavia Prague has therefore replaced the old lamps with LED floodlights that are of course controlled by Loxone and meet the strictest UEFA requirements. The results are that there is significantly better lighting for the football players, fans and cameras a like. On top of this the switch to LED and through their efficient usage with Loxone automation the stadium has seen a 30% saving on its electricity bills. Plus, due to the lights being automated with Loxone it means that the club can now intelligently control them, switching through custom lighting scenes for different stadium uses.
LEDsviti.cz (Loxone Partner) installed and automated more modern, more energy efficient and therefore more economical LED luminaires in the stadium for the clubs lighting upgrade. The illumination of the pitch has meant that there is now much better colour rendering (practically illuminating the pitch to the same level as daylight), low glare, lower electricity consumption and eliminated any flickering.
Installing the new system meant that Slavia Prague’s stadium lighting has hopped from level D straight to level A according to UEFA’s strict lighting guidelines. The install has seen the roofs of the grandstands surrounding the pitch be fitted with four-module LED floodlights, one luminaire has an output of 1,200 W. They enhance the experience for spectators in the stadium as well as for those watching TV broadcasts.
This great lighting is controlled by the intelligent Loxone building automation system. With the Fortuna Arena being the first stadium in the Czech Republic to use Loxone as its BMS and in doing so it has meant the stadium has a unique ability to create and easily control lighting scenes for different occasions. For example, when a goal is scored there is a custom goal celebration light scene which create the perfect atmosphere to celebrate the moment for the players, fans and TV broadcast.

- For different occasions you can preset modes and easily switch between them in the Loxone app.
- The lighting has adjustable brightness (and power consumption). So for the likes of training or pitch maintenance it is not necessary to have the stadium floodlights on at maximum brightness but instead they can be at a lower level. This leads to energy and monetary savings.
- Loxone takes care of the gradual ramp-up and rectifies the inrush current when starting all luminaires at once so that it is not too high. Plus, the lights can now come on instantly, where as previously it took them half an hour to come on.
- Slavia reduced their overall electricity costs by 30% through modernising and automating their lighting.
