App Update for iPhone & iPad bringing camera support and more!

Just in time for the release of Loxone 3.5, we’ve got a new app for iPhone and iPad ready for you. Download the apps now from the app store to try out all the new and exciting features.

An overview of what’s new:

In combination with Loxone 3.5, these app updates will provide some completely new functions for your Loxone system.

Door control: See who’s at the door with your iPhone or iPad!

You can now get the sound and picture from a network-compatible camera in the Loxone app – allowing you to keep an eye on what’s happening around your house. If the app’s running in the background, you’ll be alerted when anyone rings the doorbell. With the right intercom you can then speak to your visitor – even remotely!

Password protect the user interface: More security for your home

Using a user-interface password you can protect certain functions – such as opening a door or turning off the alarm – with a secondary password or PIN that has to be entered in the app.

Improved garage door control with status display

Support for garage door control has been extended, and the updated app now shows the actual position of the door (like it does for blind control).

Countless other improvements

The apps are now faster and more stable. We’ve tweaked lots of little details, like adding the ability to order lists how you want and improving the way switches are shown, which makes the apps even more intuitive to use.

Even if you don’t have Loxone installed yet, you can still try out our apps by connecting to our Demo Miniserver. Just download the app from the AppStore and select “Connect to Demo Miniserver”.

Any idea when we may welcome the Loxone app in Windows Phone 7?

I have two questions:
1. Does garage door status display requires two reed relays?
2. How can we open gate from Loxone? I have found a few speakphones, which can be connected to VoIP gate so that we could use them in Loxone. They don't cost much (about 100-150EUR) and have their own 3 relays which can by used for opening the gate and can be activated by pressing a key sequence when we want to enter or by entering a code on a telephone when we want to let someone in. So that it would be great to have a possibility to send this code (tone dial) by pressing a single button on the iPhone.

I think that the feature that allows you to watch your front door is what makes this app really unique. I've already installed it on my iPhone 4S and absolutely satisfied with it. We at www.intellectsoft.co.uk/...cation_development.html try to create something unique too.

@ Jo: The Windows Mobiel app as well as the Black Berry app will be considered if their market share increases. At the moment there is simply not enough demand for it...

@ Christopher:
1. The garage door status that we display in the function block is purely based on the time that the motor has been driven to open / close the garage door, but of course reed switches can be used to provide feedback of the actual state of the door.

2. At the moment sending DTMF tones from the Miniserver to other devices is not supported, but from my experience most gate controllers have got a volt free input that allows you operate the gate. Such could be switched via a relay on the Miniserver and triggered with a single button from the user interface.
