The aim of this comparison is not to provide absolute costs for a project, but to explore the differences between a conventional house and a Loxone Smart Home.
The costs given below are intended as a guide only, they will vary depending on the exact installation and contain the electrician's costs
including materials (and their delivery cost) and labour. They don't include the heating system, blind motors, light bulbs, sauna, iPhone, music-system etc. The house dimensions are taken to be 150m2, including two children's rooms, a bedroom, living room / dining area, clockroom, garage and cellar.
Option A
Option B (In addition to option A)
Option C (In addition to options A and B)
15 Windows with electric blinds controlled with individual buttons and group functions.
Intelligent shading with however many groups you want. Controlled depending on the temperature and sun. Additional features include: Automatic privacy setting in the evening, a 'Good Morning' function to open all the blinds and a night insulation function which closes all blinds at night in winter.
A protection function monitors wind speed. In high winds, the blinds go up and lock. They're then released once the strong winds subside. The blinds are also linked to the door status to make sure you don't get locked out.
Underfloor heating with floor distributor and manual valves for heating circuits. Heating regulated by ambient temperature.
Individual room control - intelligent control of heating circuits. Temperature sensors in each room. Precision temperature control with intelligent heating times.
Control of the heating's flow temperature - dependent on the weather forecast. Each room a has self-learning controller which takes sunlight and shade into account.
15 normal, undimmed lights (incandescent lights, spots etc.), 4 dimmed lighting rings.
All the lighting scenes you want. 'Room off' and 'house off' functions.

Wall mounted iPad in the living area to act as a user interface for monitoring and control of the house. Energy and water consumption measured, as are CO2 levels. Every window, door and gate is monitored with contact switches. There are temperature sensors and motion detectors in every room, and a brightness and wind speed sensor on the roof.
No access control system.
Access with electronic keys. Access records and linked functions (such as the hall light coming on upon entry) are set up.
Fully integrated intercom with camera. Access system fully integrated with home's automation system.
Conventional - no central solution.
Power to the music system is automatically cut at night. The system is integrated with the TV for the "Multimedia" scene.
Music in each room provided by a multiroom audio system. Music can be controlled by normal switches on the wall (on/off, play/pause, change radio station). Automatic music in a room depending with presence detectors - for example, in the morning the news is turned on in the bathroom when someone enters it.
None.
Fully integrated alarm system using motion sensors and door contact switches as detectors. Owner is called if the alarm is triggered, lights flash, blinds open.
Glass-breakage sensors and IP cameras used outside - these can be monitored with any of the apps or a PC. Outside siren.
